Elliott is a Northern Highbush blueberry released in 1973 by the USDA Agricultural Research Service, selected from breeding work that originated with a cross between Burlington and U.S. 1 — itself derived from Dixi crossed with a Jersey-Pioneer hybrid. Burlington traces back to foundational crosses made by Frederick Coville involving Rubel, the wild New Jersey blueberry commercialized with Elizabeth Coleman White, and Pioneer, the first hybrid blueberry cultivar released from the Coville-White collaboration.
