Patriot is a Northern Highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) developed cooperatively by the University of Maine Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA and released in 1976. Its lineage combines Dixi, Michigander, and a lowbush-derived seedling — a cross that accounts for both its strong cold hardiness into Zone 3 and its compact, well-branched bush form more typical of half-high types.
